Summit Fence Supply is a small business.  It is a company with less than 10 employees.  It is a company that each individual acts as more than one title.  We are personal.  We listen to your stories.  We listen to your needs and provide the best service to fit your needs.  I personally started out as a customer of this company.  I was impressed with the knowledge, helpfulness, and quality of the product.  About 4 months ago, I came on board to help relieve some of the computer work load.  In the last 4 months I have gained so much respect for small business owners.  It is a lot of work!

People who own and operate their own business take “pride” in their work; it is common for their quality and efficiency to be much higher. In many cases small businesses are known for providing their customers personalized and customized, high-quality products and services.  Here at Summit Fence Supply the same is true.  We strive to provide you with the best quality for your money.

We work hard.  The hours are often long.  But unlike a larger company we are paid by the job, not the amount of time put into that job.  Companies will try and take advantage of smaller unestablished businesses.  They often know how much harder we work, but frankly do not care.  They know that every job means a paycheck so we will bend over backwards to get the job done.  We will send product without pay, we will complete research, endless hours of research without compensation.  And we will do it because the larger company is a reputable company.  A well known company.  An established larger company.

Small businesses are often trustworthy people who think that others are just as trustworthy, especially larger businesses, after all they were once a small business!

As a small business owner we have to constantly be on our guard.  We have to go above and beyond to protect ourselves from getting conned out of the money owed to us.   With two pieces of documentation we can safeguard ourselves.  These two documents does not mean we will get our money faster or without trouble.  But it does mean we have a leg to fight on.  Every small business supplier needs to know about the Notice of Commencement and the  Notice of Furnishings.

The Notice of Commencement is exactly what you would think it is.  It is a legal document that announces work is about to begin on a home building or remodeling project.  It provides interested parties with the information needed to follow the construction lien procedures properly.

The Notice of Furnishing provides proof that a supplier, subcontractor, or laborer has provided labor or materials toward a construction project.

Small business owners need to make friends with some lawyers and play nice with larger businesses.  Do the proper paperwork and allow the lawyers to enforce the law!   Going at a larger company with just your overdue balance and stressed out bank account will not get you far.
